3A- Your Entrepreneurship Story

I have been surrounded by entrepreneurs my whole life. My grandparents came here from Italy in 1920. They successfully opened multiple businesses: food market, restaurant, ice plant & home heating oil, etc. It took hard work to make these businesses a success and put food on the table for the family. They sacrificed and worked to achieve that “American Dream”. I truly admire their strength. If two immigrants can come here and become successful, anyone can. Nothing can hold you back but yourself.

I signed up for this class because it is part of my major.  I’m excited to learn how to recognize problems and come up with solutions. The class is different than I thought it would be and I’m up for the challenge.

  1. Your entrepreneurship story about your grandparents was inspiring and interesting to read especially when you spoke about how the businesses became very successful. Also, I completely agree that this class is different than originally thought before starting the class to actually being involved in the class. This class's assignments can definitely help to recognize and solve problems. Also, I like that you mentioned a powerful statement at the end of your first paragraph.

  2. Hi Danielle. I love how your parents came from another country to fulfill the American dream. It took (and takes) a lot of guts, faith and ‘know-how’ to start a business. Much-less several entrepreneur ventures, like your Grandparents. This story reminded me of what we learned about Colonel Sanders in class. He started several diverse businesses. Timing and external factors play a key part in their success. Thank you.

  3. My parents also immigrated to the U.S. to achieve the American dream. They also sacrificed and struggled through tough times while they have been here but in the end it has paid off for both them. I find it interesting how most immigrants tend to be entrepreneurs just to survive and make a living. Most of these people are taking risks and have no other choice but to start their own small business and work tirelessly day and night to keep the business running and maintain their families.
